As usual, gotta download that full size view.
So, when I was originally drawing the Starcraft to Scale chart xiaorobear.deviantart.com/art/…
, the main purpose was to document the different sizes of different units. After having a Dark Templar in there, there was no need to draw Zeratul. But, of course, drawing classic heroes like Fenix does give me an excuse to shoehorn in some of those classic SC1 designs. So, here are sketches of all of the hero characters from SC1/Brood War, minus the Cerebrates and the Overmind (because they're too big, I won't be drawing them at this resolution), and Artanis (because I'm waiting for his full Legacy of the Void design to be released).
-In SC1, Protoss were described as 3 meters tall. In Starcraft 2, Zeratul (and Lasarra) is considerably shorter. I imagine it's just a subtle retcon so that the Protoss characters can interact more naturally on screen with everyone else, so I fully expect Selendis and Artanis to show up in the next expansion at something like 2.2m, but for now I'm trying to bridge the gap between 3m tall zealots and hunched-over dark templar.
-"Classic" Kerrigan is based on Chris Metzen's old concept art for her, and a bit of Samwise Didear's ghost concept.
-The UED captain is the unseen character you play as in the Brood War terran campaign
-The Colonial Magistrate is the unseen character you play as in the SC1 terran campaign
-Aside from her head, Raszagal is basically a non-canon design. There exists a piece of SC2 concept art where she just looks like a 3/4ths scale version of Zeratul that I might follow instead.
-Selendis is in there because, supposedly, she is the unseen player character in the Brood War protoss campaign, as Artanis was for SC1.
-Tassadar's design is strongly influenced by his upcoming Heroes of the Storm appearance, but with shoulder bands and his original head. (edit: soon after I posted this, they retextured his Heroes of the Storm head to resemble the old one more, good for them!)
-Fenix's dragoon is based on the SC1 design, but the main chart still has the larger SCGhost/SC2-immortal-looking one, don't worry.
